The long-term purpose of the Municipal Museum and Gallery is the systematic care, professional processing and protection of its collection, as well as making it accessible to the public and researchers. The collection is divided into three main groups.
- Historical Collection
This collection maps the development of the town and the surrounding region from the 13th century onward. It features glass from Horácko region, various textiles, toys, maps, photographs etc., as well as The Collection Library.
- Art Collection
The collection contains “old” as well as modern works of art. It spans from the Gothic era to contemporary works, including the Hohenems’ picture gallery.
- Bohuslav Martinů Collection
An internationally significant collection, it contains manuscripts, correspondence, personal mementos and an extensive archive material.
The Museum’s Library is another extension of its professional activities.
The collections are presented in our permanent exhibitions and are available for research after prior appointment.
